Whoever takes the place of Christopher Dunn ’21 as the football team’s next placekicker will have some pretty big cleats to fill. That’s because Dunn, from Lexington, N.C., earned recognition as the best college kicker in the country in his final season with the Wolfpack.

Dunn won the 2022 Lou Groza Place-Kicker Award, and was named an All American by the Associated Press, CBS Sports and several other organizations. The awards were a result of some eye-popping statistics compiled by Dunn.

And no Wolfpack fan will forget what may have been the highlight of Dunn’s career, when he recovered his own onside kick with just 1:33 to play as NC State roared to a miracle comeback win over UNC-Chapel Hill in 2021.

• Set the ACC career record — 491 points scored, 97 field goals

• Led the ACC and ranked second nationally in field goal percentage in 2022 — 97%

• Made 28 of his 29 field goal attempts in 2022

• Was perfect on 200 extra points attempts for the Wolfpack over five seasons
